The three kinds of puzzle
The puzzles rotate through three types:
- Find the discard. You have drawn your 14th card. Which card do you throw so the other 13 make a valid show? Sometimes more than one card works; any of them is right.
- Valid or wrong show? A player lays down 13 cards in groups. Is it a valid declaration? Wrong shows are built from the mistakes people really make: a repeated suit in a set, a K A 2 run, no pure sequence, or only one sequence.
- Count the points. Another player has declared. How many points does this losing hand count in its best grouping? Remember the 80 cap and that a hand without a pure sequence counts every card.
Every puzzle uses two decks with printed jokers and one cut joker, like the games. The answers are worked out by the same engine that scores our games, and every puzzle for the next two years has been checked against it before release.
Streaks and practice
- A new puzzle appears at midnight India time (IST). Puzzle #1 was 9 October 2026.
- Your streak counts the days in a row you solved the puzzle on your first try. Your best streak is kept too.
- Use Previous day to play earlier puzzles for practice. They do not change your streak.
- Streaks are stored only in this browser on this device. There is no account and nothing is sent anywhere, so a different phone starts from zero.
Get better at the puzzles
- Find-the-discard puzzles are about spotting your pure sequence first. See how to make a pure sequence fast and sorting and planning your opening hand.
- Valid-or-wrong puzzles test the rules in valid vs invalid declarations.
- Counting puzzles are covered in 13-card rummy scoring, with examples. The points calculator has a card counter if you want to check your sums.
FAQ
When does the daily rummy puzzle change?
At midnight Indian Standard Time, every day.
Why did my streak reset?
A streak needs a correct first answer every day. Missing a day, or getting the first answer wrong, starts it again. Practice puzzles from earlier days never affect it.
Can I play yesterday’s puzzle?
Yes. Use Previous day. Earlier puzzles are for practice and do not count towards your streak.
Is the same puzzle shown to everyone?
Yes. Each day’s puzzle is generated from the date, so everyone sees the same hand on the same day, with no server involved.
